What was the last version that worked?
Did you install ver 23.0 in the same folder?
What button did you click to get that?
Can you revert to ver 22.12 to see if that works? I checked just now and I see no changes between 22.12 and 23.0.

Are Dave the user name you have always used when you login to windows? What happens if you run ProScan with its Administrator rights enabled for it by right clicking and select Run as Administrator ?

I always advise not to elevate ProScan to Admin especially if ProScan is installed in the Program Files (x86) folder. 1) It can mask the real problem. 2) ProScan will look for the config (ProScan.cfg) file in the ProScan installed folder and not the VirtualStore folder so the options will be the defaults and not what the user set them to.

I've noticed this once after updating ProScan. The issue boiled down to the fact I run ProScan under a regular user account but the update routine requires and prompts for Administrator privileges. After the update routine completes, the installer prompts to "run ProScan" with that option selected by default. If you don't unselect that option the elevated installer will run ProScan in an elevated session which is not the same as running it as a regular user account so it will act like a fresh install. Bob can you set the installer to not default select "run ProScan" at the end of the install routine?

The setup program runs as administrator but ProScan does not when clicking the Finish button with the 'Launch ProScan' option on. I added an indicator to make it easy to tell if administrator or not, in the next version 23.1 not out yet.

{edit} I think a 2nd UAC prompt will appear if ProScan did start as admin from the setup program.

My oversight. I just tested with 23.1 and as noted it does indeed drop privileges back to the normal user account after "Launch ProScan" is run when setup finishes. Thanks!
