I got it in the mail today and iv spent the afternoon trying to figure it out.
anyways, my last scanner was back in highschool, before any of this trunking buisness, **** has me super confused. the one channel i got working (dont know what i did exactly) but i put in the frequecy, then a million people start talking from all over the place each time someone talks, a different 5 numbers appear on the scanner, im guessing these are the talkgroups, but somehow made the scanner want to hear all of them at the same time??. im a noob, and i think its gonna take a bit to figure this out. Also, just finding the frequecy i want on the website i enter it and i get nothing. i dunno i just need help, im sure once i get the basics it will come easy.

I live in west sacramento CA, primarily want all of yolo county and sacramento county, but is there some good places to start from the bottom learning this pro 96 other then the owner manual? or other threads for just starting out with this so i dont feel like such an idiot? i dont kno anything about the other scanners so i dont really kno where to look

Yep, you probably got one of the channels entered correctly, and of course anyone on the system, who was routed to that frequency would show up. Indeed you were seeing the talkgroups.

Trunked Radio Systems - The RadioReference Wiki

This gets you into the basics and then some of trunking...a must read

sweet thanks man im gonna start reading! the davis trunk i couldnt get anything out of it, but il wait to tinker on that till i read that

Your in the right place to get that scanner up and going and learn it. The WIKI is an excellent place to start and there are lots of threads on the 96 here in the forums. You may want to check out Win96 by Starsoft for programing. Good Luck
