• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Got these personalities and sets? NIFOG, VHF Marine, etc?

I had ours shipped with NIFOG already installed, and I'm 99.9% sure I saved that default load. I won't be in the shop until middle of next week, but if you send me a PM around then, I'll grab it and dropbox it to you.

I do recall that the stock NIFOG load had a few errors, mainly wrong PL's. Not sure if I fixed it before saving it.

I ~might~ have the marine VHF load….

I have a VHF marine set in RPM14, are you able to use that? I don’t have any experience with RPM 2 or the XL line.

I have all the VHF marine channels in my XG-100M along with tons of ham freqs.
Copied my personality from an M7100.
I would have to build up the NIFOG and add another system.

A few requested sets were sent to me. Now the question is, what's the proper procedure for installing them in my directories, where they belong, in a manner that allows RPM2 to actually see them?

I installed them in my correct global sets directory. But RPM2 doesn't see them.

In RPM14, you create a conventional set with the exact same name, then right click it and "Use Global Set". Not sure if it's the same in RPM2

Found the answer. In the case of a conventional set, the file extension is .cv5 for a set, change it manually to .cvx to make it a global set.
Presumably similar rules apply to other types of sets. It appears that the extension ends in X for global sets.

The same thing can be accomplished when in the conventional set editor, just go to the name of the set, right click and select "make set global."

And if someone would like to share conventional sets for NIFOG and Marine, I sure would be happy...

Except that I could not find a way to make RPM2 recognize the set that I had received via email and copy saved it to the appropriate directory, until I changed the extension.
Interesting, I'd have to try and replicate that; I've never had a problem copying sets into RPM2.
