If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello.
I have few GP340 and GP360 radios with labeled version R03.16.00 ( CPL 8.0) that I can not read with CPS R03.11.15 and R03.11.16. I have error message that "Couldn't open port. Check whether Device/RIB are powered on or not, and the device to rib, and the rib to pc connection is ok."

Gp360 display goes blank when I enter Read radio command on CPS but shortly after I have error message stated above. First time experiencing this stuff.
I am using genuine RIB and XP computer with RS232 port, not USB based ribless cable.

Comm tool can not connect to the radio also!

Can someone tell me what are my options? Maybe repeat the flash to the same R03.16.00 or another firmware? Anything else?
Thanks.

First thing you need to do is verify the serial port is active, correctly configured, and actually works.

I recommend a loop back test, similar to the one in the link provided. Once you have verified that the RS232 port works, and is correctly seen by the OS - we can move on.

Hello. Thanks for reply. Well, I should probably write that I doubt that RS232 is causing this problem because I can read and write to other radios, with same CPS ( both R03.11.15 and R03.11.16 CPS) and same RIB and even programing cable for GP340. :)

Hello again. Well, the problem was just it should be in cases like this. Port could not be opened because one of the cable contacts was not touching the metal but plastic beside metal, on the radios side contact.
After securing the adapters pins in proper place on the radio, now CPS R03.11.16 read and write radio just fine.

Those radios are long in the tooth, not suprised this was the issue. Strong work.
