• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I just bought a Gp380 off of someone who had bought it off ebay. I am trying to remove some channels from it with CPS R03.08.03, however whenever I try to read the radio it says cannot open port, check RIB/Device Power etc...

I have a RIBless cable I am using and a Prolific Serial to USB adapter that I have used before programming Minitor Pagers. Here is some information on the Radio if it helps:

Motorola GP380
SW Version: R03.08.08
CP Part #: 5107421A01
CP Version: R6.00
Model #: AZH25KDH9AN6

The person who I bought it off of used the software to program it, so I know the CPS works.

The only COM Ports I get when it is plugged in are 3 & 4 and both give me the error above. Is there a key sequence needed to put the radio into programming mode?

cable

The #1 problem is the use of any USB or adapter on a Waris radio. Some will say they have or are using USB with no problems, but I have fixed MANY Waris radios due to using these cables.

Thanks for your help, it was definitely the cable (at least the connector anyway). I had to press the connector to the radio while reading/writing. Otherwise it worked well.

new gp 380

hello i just bought a gp 380 a cheap hk one. this is just a test...
the radio came with 5 channels programmed, but i'd like to add some more.
inside the parcel i got the usb cable and the cd with serial port emulator and gp380's sw.
i'm scared to connect the radio reset it and be unable to program it again.
can someone tell me the problem. i explain. if the sw and cable works i'll be able to program it for sure, but if not? do i have to send my radio back. i don't want a locked motorola (even if i think it's a cheap mixture of old component in a new chassis..).
here some info:
sw ver. 03.08.08
cp ver r 6.02

anyone helps?
thanks.
