We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

I'm sure it has been talked about, but I can't seem to find it in the 25+ pages of post release discussions. So don't shoot me for asking this.

If I connect a GPS unit to the 996,

1. Can I turn GPS unit off/on via the GPS key on front? I think the answer is no but I maybe am misreading something.

2. If connected to a GPS, will the 996 scan all groups that are not identified by GPS coordinates plus those that are that are within the "range" set up in the menu? In other words, can I have a state patrol group with no GPS coordinates scanned all the time and various sheriff department groups that are turned on/off based on GPS location?

Thank you for your help.
