Well my GPS18 came in. It defaults to the correct format but the scanner won't see it. The light on the plug lights up showing that the lighter socket is powered. I have disconnected and reconnected it to the scanner to make sure that it attached properly. Am I missing something?

Did you make sure that the serial port on the scanner is set to 4800 baud?

Thanks guys, I'll check these things.

Ok, the back port is set up to 4800 baud and the scanner still dosn't see it. Any other suggestions?
Its the OEM PC version of the GPS-18, serial port plugged into the back of the scanner. It is powered off of the same circuit as the scanner.

Anyone know of a way to check the gps or scanner individually to troubleshoot which is not doing it's part? The software link in this thread won't work due to not already having a working version of the software.

If you connect the GPS to your PC's serial port, you should be able to use Hypterterm to see data coming from the GPS every second (I believe GPS needs to have sat lock, though).
