I've always wanted to try the GPS feature on my BCT15X but I've never liked the price tag ($70-80) for a GPS unit. Then late last night I was reading this thread http://forums.radioreference.com/uniden-owner-tech-support/297012-mobile-scanning-gps-question.html , and one of the comments where "Any NEMA compliant GPS device will work as long as it has an output cable with the 9 Pin RS 232 end.". Well, I have a Megellan GPS310 which has a NMEA 0183 output (I dont currently have the cable, but a quick $20 ebay purchase can fix that). So could this GPS work? I like a $20 price tag much better than a $70+ one. I know there is a list of GPS unites that work with Uniden scanners in the Uniden wiki (this GPS not being on the list), but I'm hoping the one I have will work.

GPS I have Amazon.com: Magellan GPS 310 1.5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator: GPS & Navigation

Cable option #1 Cig Power Data PC Cable 4 Magellan 300 310 315 320 330 | eBay

Cable option #2 Original Magellan GPS315 GPS320 GPS330 Data Cable 730342 | eBay

I'm a little hesitant to say "Yes" or "No" - you might contact the Magellan folks and ask them if their device, with the right cabling, will output data to another device, such as a scanner.

I've used a Garmin device with my scanners for GPS purposes. The cable I got for the Garmin looks very similar (RS 232 end and 12 volt power supply) to what is shown in #1 above.

For what it's worth, I began using the Uniden GPS unit as I didn't like leaving my GPS device on the car dashboard, which might be tempting to thieves.

I do like the GPS scanning feature.
