Which one should I get. 3 or 2

If you have $250, broadband internet, and RADAR interpretation skills.......Level 2AE
If you want higher resolution, have $80 and broadband internet.......Level 2
If you plan to look at this data while mobile, or don't have DSL/Cable internet ....... Level 3.
I have owned all three.....and was in on the beta testing of Level 3.
Currently, I use Level 2AE and 3 at the same time, but on two computers. If I'm out chasing/observing/taking photos, etc., I would only use Level 3 (not quite the data hog as the Level 2 vesions).
If you want to learn more about RADAR and its application in your neighborhood and for your part of the weather hobby, get Level 3. Read the owners' forums for support and fine-tuning the product.
Even better, download the trial software (you get it free for 21 days) for each "level" and see which one fits.
For anyone with more than a passing interest in the hobby, I strongly recommend Level 3. I've talked to a number of amateur radio & SKYWARN folks who swear by it.

Jay - Very good info - I agree with everything except your point of MAC - Recently, I found that if I run Parallels on my MAC, I can do everything just as if I was on Windows. It even smooths the radar data (in level 3 and 2).
Does it do the volume display of 2AE?

yes, it works perfect. I just tried it to confirm. I can tell you, that these items do not work with VM Fusion but they work with parallels (at least the latest version).
