We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

grand forks county sheriff's dept. are phasing out the 800 trunked radio's from there vehicles. the reason for this is unclear right now, but i would surmise it has to do with cost seeing how the radio's and service was leased from stones. i know i have heard many deputy's show there disgust on the radio about this. after all they 800 had county wide coverage versus the 15 mile range of the sheriffs channel, that and they didn't have to worry about missing any dispatches or all-calls because they were on a completely different radio. as of right now only 2 squads have the 800's left, and they will be taken out by the end of this next week.
