Brush fire threatens Redlands homes; 10 acres scorched
A brush fire in a ravine started just before 4:00 this afternoon and has grown larger. It has threatened structures in the area.
The fire started near Peony Drive which is just North of Broadway in the Redlands. The fire is under control right now, although windy conditions are challenging firefighters.
Several fire stations from the Grand Junction Fire Department are on scene. They have also called in extra help from the Lower Valley Fire District.
High winds in the area are helping fuel the fire. The fire departments have established a command post are working hard to fight the growing fire.
We have a crew on scene and will bring you the very latest tonight at 10:00.
