Anyone ever been to Gravelly Point in Arlington to watch planes come and go from DCA? I am planning a trip this weekend and wondered how your visits have been. Please post any important info I need to know before going. Thanks for the info.
You'd be surprised how many people with new digital cameras don't know how to turn them off. Others just think because it's dark or low level light and the subject is 100 yards away, they need a flash (wrong). Please please PLEASE, do not use flash photography after sunset when the river visual or either LDA is in use and the RAIL lights are not on. You would be surprised how very distracting it can be when rolling out of the turn at 200 ft
You would also be surprised how many people do this.
sure do. when the weather is VMC the river visual is used--vectors to join the river over chain bridge then follow the river(or the strobes if at night). If its not so nice out and the winds are strong from the south then the LDA Runway 19 or the Rosslyn LDA are used.Hello,
Do they still do Follow the Potomac approaches into DCA? I remember what seemed to be a 45 minute period of low and slow as my flight years ago landed at DCA from the south. I bet it is interesting to see some landings on 19 if these approaches are still used.
