I would appreciate any advice on reprograming the custom trunking table to receive the UCAN frequencies. I have installed the latest firmware version G106 from the GRE website and use Win97 software for programing.

TIA for your help

Open your WIN97 program, click on Channels > select Multi-table > click Extended Tables > click 800 MHz "Rebanded" from the drop-down menu (see image below) > click OK. That places the custom trunking table in the software to allow you to upload the custom table to the scanner.

Thanks for the reply. I followed the instructions and uploaded the rebanded table to the scanner. I've programed the radio with the UHP TGs, but the reception is weak & garbled...almost like it's off-frequency.
Any suggestions?

Are your freqs set on NFM? Weak and garbled sounds like you have the wrong Mode selected.

You have to realize where the UHP is dispatched. Salt Lake County UHP has it's own dispatch office and Utah County is also dispatched by the UHP dispatch office in Salt Lake County. The other UHP TGs are controlled by Davis County, Summit County, Tooele County, Weber County, etc.

In other words, to hear them all you will need to be able to hear Davis County Simo (Site 002), Weber County Simo (Site 001), Mount Ogden (Site 007), and Nelson Peak (Site 011) at a minimum and then have the TGs programmed into the correct banks. Receiving voice from Summit County, Tooele County, Weber County is going to depend a lot on how the TGs affiliate with the different sites.

Another thing you should do is in the bank(s) you are using, you need to mark them as MOT. See image below:

I have programed the Sites & TGs and have reconfigured the 800MHz "rebanded" table.

So now for really dumb question - if the Multi-table box is checked on the channel page the reception is distorted. If the Normal box is checked the reception is greatly improved. I don't understand what's happening & what am I doing wrong?

I would stay with Normal then, but keep watching the display on your scanner to see if you are getting any frequencies that begin with 851, 852, 853, AND have a "0" (zero) in the forth decimal place.

One thing I have found out is that this hobby is not cut and dried, black and white. Experiment and have fun. Use whatever works for you.
