I have a bcd396t and can use all sorts of software to program it, (ARC396, bctool, Freescan, etc) no problem.
I just bought a new psr 600 and tried all the software (win500, ARC500, PSRedit) but I cant pick up anything.
What am I doing wrong.
I am trying to get Bell Fleetnet - Ontario Provincial Government Zone 2.
If I thought it would be this hard I would have waited for the release of the new 396xt, but I have heard so many good things about the psr 600.
HELP??????, This is a new scanner for me and I am getting soooooooo frustrated.

I think you're going to need to provide a bit more detail about what you've done with the various software programs before anyone can help.

Since you are a premium subscriber, the simplest approach would be to use the download function in the software to grab the system you want directly from the database here. That should at least get you started.

My guess would be an incorrect setting on that system.

Use Motorola VHF/UHF for the system type, and make sure you put in the correct custom tables to track the system. There's also a setting to use 5Khz spacing on in the VHF range, which make help as well.

Take a look at this WIN500 tutorial and see if that does anything to help. It was written with the Motorola 800 MHz Type II Smartzone in mind, but other than the fact that your system is using frequencies out of the 800 MHz range, it should be the same.

I have just opened a New Template in my WIN500 software and I have everything set to import from the RR Database. I'm not going to do it because I have no interest in this system. Once the correct system is selected, the program makes the adjustments including the correct band plan.

EDIT TO ADD: I went ahead and imported the Ontario Provincial Government Zone 2 into my WIN500 software and noticed that it did NOT make a scan list assignment to the TGs. Using the WIN500 software click on the TSYS tab and see if any of the TGs have a scan list assignment by looking at the scan list map. If not, this may be your problem of not being able to receive anything. Highlight the entire list of TGs and assign them to a scan list in one swoop. See if that helps.

I would also take a look at the sticky where the PSR500 is being worked on for Fleetnet programming. It's found in the Eastern Canada forum. Mike Oxlong has been working on this....73 Mike

Thanks everyone for the replies.
When I posted GRE 600 for dummies, I was thinking of myself mostly.
I read all of your replies, all of the wiki's, googled other stuff, all of the tutorials and everything I could find.
I was so frustrated so I picked up the scanner and moved to another position of comfort.away from my computer.
Lo and behold, sound.
Seems like I was getting interference from my desktop and maybe wireless router.
It now works fine about three feet away.
So thank you all for your suggestions.
