When I originally set-up the scanner, I used win500, I thought I bought
a "key" which I can't seem to find. ( I could be wrong, it's been a couple years).

So, if I need to get "new" programing software, can anyone suggest the "best"
programing software, I know there are 3 or 4 ( or more) out there.

Any suggestions / pro / con would be helpful.

Thanks

Don

I've used WIN500 for years and love it!! I find it very easy to use, especially the import feature that allows the user to download freqs directly from the RR database.
I think that all of the software companies offer a free 30 day trail. You can check in the software forums for details. WIN500 does have a key that is entered to allow use of the software. It could save you some bucks if you find it.

I e-mailed Don yesterday and have not as yet heard anything.

How long do I need to wait to get an answer to a question ??

Thanks

Post your question in our scanner software forum - Don (or someone else) will see your question and likely answer it...

From previous posts on the issue of a lost WIN500 registration key, I think you may be out of luck as Mr. Starr doesn't keep track of them and may not respond to requests of lost WIN keys.
However, he does provide excellent programming software.
Just keep track of your key if you buy from him.

I have looked everywhere, I may have just used the demo

The keys are emailed when they're sent out so check your various e-mail accounts. When you find it (or get a new key) do a few things.

* Put a copy of the e-mail in a safe place (several if you can). Perhaps forward it to your other e-mail accounts (especially ones that don't delete or otherewise archive old e-mails).

* Print the e-mail a few times and place copies in places where you'll find them easily (desk drawer, file cabinet, etc.).

* Print the e-mail to a .pdf file that is put with your other importand documents on your computer (like your resume, etc.) so it will be copied along with them when you get a new computer.

* Print the e-mail and cut out the key info (both the Name and Key lines on the e-mail) and tape it to the scanner(s) it will work with.
