I Need To Let Members Know That I Had All Kind Of Hell With The Butel
Software That I Ordered From Scanner Master. The Software Installed
Ok, And I Used It Only Twice. The Next Time I Tried To Use It, The Software
Screwed-up. It Would Automatically Try To Download A New Version
Via The Enternet.no Matter What I Tried,the Software Still Wanted To
Download A Newer Version Of It Self, Which Was Not Even Available.

I Just Deleted That Crap . No More Butel Software For Me. I Just Wanted
The Viewers To Be Aware Of This Problem.

YOu should have UNSTALLed like you're supposed to, not just go in & do a "hack job" check the registry & make all relative info for the S/w is dleted also. & if ya read the s//w teels you it updates itself??

I uninstalled it just like you stated. It did not help at all. When I tried ti uninstall it, it still tried to
down load itself again. It took about a damn hour to uninstall that crap. UNDERSTAND?????????????
Even after disconnecting the internet cable, the software still traied to install a new version of itself
EVERY TIME I clicked on it to use it. HOW ABOUT THAT. i EVEN RUN A COMPLETE VIRUS
SCAN TO SEE IF THERE WAS A PROBLEM. NO VIRUS DETECTED.

Let me say after being in the IT field fo 15 years and beta besting and install hundreds of programs, sometimes windows does not work correctly and stuff like this can happen that requires a reload sometimes. I have had software that I install have this type of problem and when I reload everything works just fine.
Sometimes you can have two different programs write the same file to the hard drive when they install and one program does not like the version of the other software. This is just computer stuff and if you cannot be patient then scanners and computers are not right for you.
try to delete everything out of the temp folder as well and sometimes that will stop a program from keep installing.
I remember the first time I install Dons win 500, blue screen everytime. That was almost a year ago and no problems since that one time.
computers....But if you do want our help, you wlll need to be able to be patient while trying to help you.

May I ask why you did not let it install a new version?

I personally don't have ARC for the GRE600 but as AlabamaRS mentions it does updates on its own.

Edit: Just to let you know that there is a software forum that you could have posted your problem, lots of pro's there including Butel's Gommert.

ARC500 will never automatically download a new version, it will notify you if there is a new version and you can disable that by going in the help menu and unselect 'Check for update' or simply update so you have the latest version.
