I update my 800 weekly and I notice that many VHF conventional channels show as "FM" rather than "NFM". That includes, for example, all the Marine channels. Now I assume that this is because that's the way the main RR database has it.
I was under the impression that "FM" is only used for the actual FM broadcast band, which this radio doesn't cover (and I don't miss), and that anything above that would use Narrow band FM. Am I mistaken?
I tried changing all the "FM" conventional frequencies to "NFM" and this seemed to work fine, but of course on the next download and update they all changed back to "FM".
Is this a problem with the database? Would it have any effect on the performance of the scanner?
Perhaps I am in the wrong forum and should put this in the Database forum, and if so I wouldn't mind re-posting there or having a forum admin moving this for me.
Any ideas?
I have experimented with changing all these to "NFM"
