What OS?

Try the following....

Rebooting the computer with the scanner plugged in

You should wait at least one minute after you plug in the usb cable to the scanner before you do any updates to the scanner.

Assign a comport to the scanner in device manager.

Try a NEW usb cable.

WHAT OS?

uninstal and reinstall the driver.

Try disconnecting the usb cable, pull the batteries and leave them out until you get it working, press and hold the power button for at least 30 seconds. Then plug in the usb cable and wait 60 seconds. then see if you can do the cpu update via ezscan. repeat as many times as needed. try a different usb port

Did you send it in to whistler for the update? If yes, and you then tried to update the firmware and its stuck where it is now, correct?
If so, remove the batteries, hold in the menu button, while holding the button plug in the usb cable.
Open ezscan, update it to the latest version.
THEN, check for cpu updates.

This should get you going.

He has a hacked scanner, the fix was to reload cpu firmware via grefwtool.
