So it took me a while to finally buy the GRE 800 but I sure am happy that I did. Years ago, I was a huge scanner guy listening every night and saving up for crystals to get different frequencies. Then I bought a handheld scanner and loved it. As everyone switched to digital trunking I kind of lost interest because you had to have a PH.d just to program the damn thing.

So I eagerly waited for my we GRE 800 to show up and of course when it did I had problems right away. I went to their website and called and the customer service is nothing short of AMAZING. The guy stayed on the phone with me not only until the problem was fixed, but then he went as far as teaching me how to use the scanner. Don't get me wrong anyone can figure out how to use it, but he went above and beyond.

The scanner itself is awesome. I was kind of bummed to realize that my capital city is encrypted but so far everything else is great. If you buy one though get rid of the short antenna that comes with it and buy an 800 mgz antenna. After changing the antenna it is like night and day. So if you choose to buy this scanner I highly doubt you will be disappointed.

Thats good to hear. I'm trying to learn a Pro 197 and am strongly considering a psr800. I'll be looking for one at Dayton in a few weeks
