So no other news than a new firmware upgrade? (not that this isn't great news).

Sounds like Dayton was a pretty much a dud this year for new scanner information.

really hoping for reworked/tweaked conventional mixmode (dcs analog mixed with p25) operation.
tired of missing analog replies when scanner switches to p25 correctly but is too slow to switch back to analog when replying side pushes ptt a bit too fast. apparently mot xts1500 handles these conversations fine.

Promises, Promises!!!

I've been to dozens of conventions over the past twenty years: helicopter, fire, ems, law enforcement...I've learned you can never trust a salesman. Unless you see the product in action, chances are it doesn't exist, or never will. "We are developing that and real close to releasing that product," is a salesman's favorite line. "That's nice Sir, here is my card, when you have something to demo please give me a call," is my standard response. The biggest marketing blunder I have ever seen was when a manufacturer brought a new helicopter to a convention where the panels were held in place with duck tape! We still laugh about that one every year at our annual convention!

He wasn't talking to a salesman though, so big difference. I'd believe this report.

For what it's worth, I talked to what sounds like the same person at the GRE booth in Dayton, and was told the essentially same thing -- it's due to be released "any day now" (i.e. two weeks back from this post). I asked if there was anything exciting in the update, but he said "not really - it's mostly fixing issues with a few systems". I'm not getting too excited about it.

I also asked if there was any chance they'd be able to update the DSP firmware to decode D-STAR, but he said the hardware isn't capable of decoding it. Wishful thinking.

GRE has the updated firmware. They're in the process of verifying/validating it before releasing it to their web site.

That is correct. Just minor fixes, no new features.
