Dont hold your breath, I dont see the prices coming down for quite awhile on a new scanner. Whether its GRE or Uniden. A good portion of the price is negotiated with the Radio companies that own the rights to the Radio technology. Hope this explains it. Good Scannin Hoser

Look at the BCD396T, it's been out what, 2.5 years and I think most outlets are actually charging more than the $500 it initially sold for. I wouldn't plan on it dropping in price for a long time. It's a very small market and there is not a lot of new products being developed for it.

Price Drop

The Pro-96 has been out 4 years now and unless you catch a special sale it is still $499 at Radio Shack. So don't expect the PSR-500 to drop anytime soon.

Probably just before it's end-of-lifed in 5 years.

With the declining value of the $$, and the increase in raw materials costs, don't look for it to go down in price anytime soon.
