Hi All,

DPD Productions - MilTenna VHF & UHF Military Air Band Antennas

Just wondering if this would be a good combination for monitoring the Mil Air and ground activity at Joint Base Mcguire-Fort Dix? I live about 24 miles as the crow fly's from the center of the base.

It looks like the radio is priced fair enough and gets good reviews. The antenna looks a little pricey but if it's the best one for the job so be it.

Antenna would be mounted about 18 to 20 feet in the air.

My current "rig" is a Uniden BC246T on a Radio Shack 20-176 Sputnik antenna which seems to work well for my non-digital scanning needs. I suppose at some point I'll have to get a digital scanner and a better antenna to up my scanning game to the 21st century.

Thanks
AJB

From your area my guess is that you'll hear 124.150 A/D and the 300 MHz A/D frequencies, but you'll probably have trouble with the transmitters on the ground. I'm about 8 miles from the end of the long runway. During the annual airshow you should be able to hear at least some the Thunderbirds flying in formation. Info here: Scanning NJ: Burlington County.
