GRE PSR 410 Issue

Hey guys. Recently my 410 has an issue when i turn it on. The screen will light up then shut off. No power at all when turned on. If I shut it off again and turn it on and turn the volume up, it will stay on. Any suggestions? Recently bought a new wall adapter from Whistler and it worked fine for awhile then it started doing this. Recommend a fix? Thanks.

Check the VOL on/off switch. Might need internal cleaning? There’s a product called “De-OXIT” a very good contact cleaner for electronics. Also be very sure the power adaptor is giving the correct voltage and polarity. I had a power issue with my 410 years ago, the power adaptor wasn’t the path to ground the antenna feed line was and it made all kinds of fuzz noise on vhf air band.

I'm familiar with Deoxit as I used it before when tuning up my old Marantz receivers. I'm thinking this is more of a serious problem. Love the scanner, so I'm wondering if it's worth getting fixed by a qualified technician.
