Does anybody know where I can purchase a psr 600 in the vicinity of Cape Cod, Mass.

Closest B&M location I know of is Scannermaster in Natick. HRO in Salem, NH probably has one in stock. The Radio Shack Pro 197 is essentially the same but there are differences in the included accessories that affect your all-in cost and IIRC they use different firmware.

Scannermaster, right in my home town of Natick. Catch is, they really don't have a retail 'store'--it's a showroom that generally opens for appointments only.

In any case, you'll get a much better price by purchasing online. I could have walked to SM to get my PSR-500, but I would have had to pay $25 in sales tax. You're better off going through a reputable mail order company that offers a better price and free shipping and no sales tax.
