The PSR-800, now with more hours in the day!

FYI, I'm getting right around 14 hours of operation with Powerex 2700's and the backlight set to ALWAYS ON, LEVEL 3 with heavy traffic

LOL, your using the Mayan 2012 setting

I see weird stuff like that when I don't use battery power and then install them later.

14 hours of battery time using that clock? :D

I have yet to see anything over 7 continuous hours of use for battery life, but I'm using 2300mAh.

I think I've found a couple programing errors:

1) A local EDACS system has two towers. One tower has an agency dispatch TG. Individual carriers (mobiles) are broadcasted as "private" or Uniden I-Call setting. When dispatch broadcast the TG works as normal. When the mobiles click on the TG psr-800 stops on the CC. The system goes out of the trunk scanning mode and stays on the CC. Wildcard is set on both sites and just the one site programed. I've not had this issue with Uniden models. I programed the scanner with just the tower with the problem and the issue remained.

2) A local carrier has a regular LTR and several PassPort sites. Import from RR listed both the types of systems. The standard LTR as the LTR. The other three (PassPort) sites as LTR. Anyway I keep logging TGs that are not on the regular LTR that are verified with different scanners at the same time.

For example:
1-01-101
1-01-102
Are regular LTR TGs.

The following TGs are key-ups and a bit of static with no voice(as if monitoring PassPort in conv mode with out the voice):
0-01-211
04-077
0-01-147
04-077

Any ideas?

Did you try using the Private Call Wildcard accessible in the trunked tab for the system and see if that works.

Only regular LTR systems are supported on the current trunking scanners, so if you are seeing odd TGID's this could be an unsupported type unless your saying they are regular LTR systems only.

You can also use the auto-LCN order setting to help sort the frequency LCN order if that may be a problem.

Or maybe it is reporting data from the Passport LCN's?

Yes, double checked it. Wildcard set in TG and Radio ID's. Still getting bounced-out on the mobile wildcards.

I locked out the regular LTR site. The PassPort sites are listed under the standard LTR setting. Either some of the freqs are on a regular LTR and listed under the PassPort sites. Either way there is no voice. Only static burst. Wildcard listing.

Then it sounds like you need to submit a trouble ticket for that problem: GRE America, Inc. - Powered By Kayako SupportSuite

This sounds like a Radioreference database problem with the system. If it's flagged correctly, then the PSR-800 shouldn't be able to import a Passport system only the regular LTR.

I'm very new to scanning and need some help. Will the Gre-800 scan everything the Pro-106 will?

Thanks in advance

PSR 800 power shut-off!

Does anyone know why if you drop the radio accidentally hard enough in scan mode, it acts as a fuse and the screen read something like "low battery, auto shutoff", it happened to me today . I had to re-power the the radio. I made a thick leather case so good thing the radio casing did not crack. Not to get off topic but someone said if you drop the PSR 500, the battery cover pops off as a breakaway and the battery holder pops out, strange.

The connections are temporarily interrupted causing the voltage to drop and kick it into low battery warning mode.

They were originally going to have it say "TILT" similar to a pinball machine, but there wants enough room on the screen, so they opted for "low battery, auto shutoff" instead?

PSR800 Questions

I have some questions about the PSR800.

- will it search for NAC,CTCSS,DPL tones ?

- can you set a preset search for lets say the Ham band and federal VHF band and decode NAC's and Pl tones ?

- is the update of the memory car easy from RR ?

I have not owned a scanner in YEARS and I want to pick the right one this one looks like a good choice. (My last scanner was a pro 2026) I was going to buy a BCD396XT but this one has got my attention. The no keypad issue is a thought of concern but I will be programming from a PC most of the time.

It's very easy to get the RR library updates but they don't come directly from RR - the PSR800 EZ Scan software handles the database updates (which come out every Saturday). It's just a menu item in the software to get the update and then the software prompts you to update the library on the SD and to update your configuration on your hard drive.

As far as programming without a keypad -- you can import systems and channels/talkgroups from the RR library on the SD card inside the PSR800. I've used this while traveling - pretty cool to be able to just "load up" entire systems on the fly.

For my more regular "my way" programming ("home" systems local to my area), I do all of my programming via my PC and then load it to the SD card VFolder(s) - most times starting with a library import from the RR database. That way, I always have a good (backup) copy saved somewhere beyond just the single copy on the SD card.

Problem with Library File 77

Hi all,

Today when library file 77 was loaded I noticed a problem with a LTR system in Alameda County, Califonia. The LTR is called “Time Slot Trunking, Inc. (Monument)”. The TG’s on RR are CORRECT (although I did notice RR took out the dashes on some of the TG’s) but when library load 77 came today many of the library TG’s are wrong. Many of the library TG’s start with “5-xx-xxx” which is incorrect as they all should start with 1-xx-xxx”. My thinking is that it’s a GRE problem so I’m wondering where we send error reports like this?

Regards,
Brian
