Yes. These are the features that the PSR-800 has above the PRO-18:
* Recording / playback
* 200 scan lists (PRO-18 has 100 play lists)
* Tri-color alert LED
* Discriminator output
* V-Scanner II
* Scan Sets
* Clock display while "off" (and connected to external power)
* Auto power-on ("alarm clock")
* "Extra" audio alert tones (PRO-18 has the 7 from PSR-500; PSR-800 has 8 more)
* Power-on password

Will the PSR800 also include additional accessories beyond what the Pro-18 will include or will they be the same in that respect?

OK, I've got to ask... Will there be a control/memory manager app for the Apple iPad now that the PSR800 is full USB?

This thing sounds better and better the more I read the specs. I only have one question and I'm sure the info has probably been posted but I missed it somehow. My only question is how do you directly enter a frequency? Is it like a PRC148 or aircraft radio and you curser over and increment each place up or down?

What's the connection? The iPad doesn't have USB access.

The answer more likely depends on demand and ability/desire for someone to write it. Honestly I can't see paying much for that app, so it'd take a lot of demand...

I don't know. That's kind of a marketing thing outside my "technical" expertise.

Speaking solely from experience with prior models, I'd suspect that the RS model might have a printed manual, the GRE model might have some kind of power adapter, etc. However, I really don't know.

At present, the only way to directly enter a frequency is via the "Limit Search" feature (I've used it to directly enter conventional channels). Yes, it's a move-the-cursor then up-down-on-each-digit method.

Is there any chance we will see better software for programming the scanner than what is supplied with it's sibling the PSR-700? (IE: WINxxx, PSREditxxx and ACRxxx!?)

It's unlikely that there will be any 3rd-party software.

What would you want such software to do that the included software doesn't handle?

Bluetooth

When they build in WI-FI for downloading the current RR database or streaming particular channels direct to RR.com - let me know! Also, BLUETOOTH and SYNC technology to playback the audio through my car speakers would be good too.

Might check out this little toy for your (I assume) Ford Sync. I'm thinking of buying it for my radios as one thing they all have is the headset jack. This would cover whichever radio I'm playing with at the time. It has good review and it is inexpensive as bluetooth goes. You'll find it on Amazon.

Miccus BluBridge mini-jack: Portable, Bluetooth Music Transmitter with Swiveling connector for all (1/8-Inch) Headphones

Update your Acrobat reader then, since a large number of us have already read it from that website, it really does exist ;)

Thanks. The key was actually changing the .html tag at the end of the file to a .pdf . . . then it downloaded and opened correctly.
