It's unlikely that there will be any 3rd-party software.

What would you want such software to do that the included software doesn't handle?

Hmmmmm... Lessee... For starters... How about the ability to do `sorts' and move entries around (IE: Up and down so that one can group them better than the one size supposed to fit all arrangement currently supplied.)? Do cuts and pastes so that one can take groups of frequencies made up within one "V-Scanner file" to another (IE: If one has made up a set of regularly used `Wildland Fire' freqs and would like to not have to go through the tedious enter them all over one freq at a time routine just to put them in another "V-Scanner File" that is enough, or considerably, different than the one they were first hand entered into.)?

NO NO because GRE america is airing some in from factory.Second batch is I assume via BOAT.
Note I have one left then out till end of Feb.

Thanks

I wonder if that's because of limited supply, or due to a critical firmware fix.

More like a short supply to each dealer to get the market interest. I'm sure the radio was well tested before it went to the FCC for approval. The core database operations and the receiver, were more than likely already included in the PSR700 to begin with.

As soon as I read it was limited amounts, I know it was a marketing idea. I just bought a scanner and even considered buying this one because I saw ONLY x LEFT.

It's not a "marketing idea". It's first production run of a small quantity, to ensure the production process "works" (a manufacturer would be silly to start a run of 50,000 units before verifying the process, only to discover some problem and then have to re-work those 50,000 units).

Subsequent runs will be larger.

My primary TRS DX radio is the PSR500, so you can bet I'll be checking out the 800.

It's time to make the popcorn and wait for the initial units to get into folks' hands. I'll send a FREE black wire twist tie to the first person to receive and report about their 800. But no cheaters... we all know how rare, desirable and collectible these little plastic-coated wires can be.

I think I'll wait until Scanner Master gets them, since I've been so satisfied with their service. Besides, they already have so much of my money anyway, I might as well give them the rest of it.
