So I just ordered my 800 from Scanner master, nice price drop recently .Anyways, months before I set my eyes on it I looked at a lot of the posts about it and found a lot about the SD card corrupting, after reading about 20 or so threads I would like to know is there anything not to do to it, like taking out the SD card. Is there anyway you can hook it up to computer to update or whatnot without it screwing up or the screen freezing or the software screwing up.And if I do somehow corrupt the SD card, what are the procedure(s) for restoring it or reformatting.

There is a free utility that you really need to download and install called "SD Formatter". It's put out by the folks who wrote the specs on SD cards. There has been some traffic on this site in the past but if you can't find the link on this site then Google for it. Make note of how you card is formatted, you'll need that info if you ever have to reformat your card. This will save a SD card that gets corrupted.

Also, you can update the card with it plugged into your card reader. It's a lot faster than doing the same thing through the USB port on the scanner.

I'd like to add that you should be sure to eject the scanner before you unplug it. I pulled the plug once before ejecting it and it corrupted the sd card and I had to reformat it and reload everything.

Theres a Utility in the EZScan software provided with the scanner for reformatting the card, "Prepare SD Card for Use" or something like that. That erases the data in it and formats it for use with the scanner.

Just make sure the scanner is off before you eject the SD card.

You're right jamesa53, EZScan will properly format the card and prepare it for use in the scanner, but only if EZScan can recognizes the card. If the card gets corrupted then EZScan might not be able to see the card to format it. At least that is what happened to me when I corrupted my card. I couldn't format it with EZScan or my computer but SDFormatter did see it and was able to format it.
