I recently purchased another GRE PSR6000 because I have had a good experience with another one that I own.

However this GRE PSR600 Scanner seems deaf as compared to the Uniden BC796 that it is replacing. Even with the squelch completely down it will not pick up signals that my Unident BC796 would pick up clearly. I am not super familiar with the advanced settings of this scanner. Is there any settings or adjustments that could be made to improve it's performance and sensitivity?

If we believe there is nothing physically wrong with the scanner, the first setting that comes to mind is the Global Attenuator. In most areas you should be able to receive WX channels clearly, does that work for you?

I have the same issue with the RadioShack Pro-163(Aka PSR-400).

I used a cable TV amplifier to help.

My PSR 600 appeared deaf below 400 MHz, the problem in my case was actually de-sense due to signal overload from nearby FM broadcast towers. I installed a FM broadcast band filter, a cheap radio shack filter I had on hand, which solved the issue completely. I am using an outside discone antenna.
