What are the differences between the PSR 500 and the Radio Shack 106? I have seen on some threads they are basically the same, but their outer cases look different. Is one better or easier to program than the other? Is the 106 more up to date when it comes to digital decoding? Are there differences in sensitivity? Does either do better with P25 simulcast systems? Does one have better audio over the other? I have always chosen Uniden scanners but I am thinking about getting either GRE or Radio Shack to see if they do better with P25 simulcast on a system that uses LSM CQPSK.
Thanks and Happy Holidays.

Radio Shack's Pro-106 is made by GRE. GRE uses the name "PSR-500."

The scanners are identical in all areas that you questioned. The outer case is different but inside it is the same. The only differences are:
1) the selling price (what with RS sales, FF coupon, etc)
2) firmware updates which are not interchangeable.

As to LSM CQPSK I know nothing about that system.

3) What comes "in the box" (GRE includes wall wart and programming cable, RS includes printed manual)
