My 500 just stops receiving when using the AC adapter. I have tried everything. Changed all the battery settings, changed holders, batteries,wall-wart AC adapter. It will only receive when using the batteries. I have read all the posts about RX problems and tried everything. I checked the antenna connection and it is good too. I even connected an 6 Volt DC adapter directly to the battery connections inside the radio and it stopped receiving. It works great with any type of batteries.

Did you try it with a 9 Volt adapter. That is the spec'ed voltage required.

Also, and sorry for asking what may seem like dumb questions but have you actually measured the adapter voltage? Also, checked for correct polarity? If it runs on batteries it's gotta run on the adapter if all is correct with it. Needs to output 9 Volts DC at 500 ma minimum with the center tip being positive. Are you using the GRE adapter?

Let us know.

So Far Away....
this is curious,,

sounds like there may be some shorting,,

i remember doing my first D-Tap,,i grounded the tap to
the antenna ground and that killed my RX...

You do-or have had any mods or repairs recently..

maybe open up your radio, see if any debris got in there
and is crossing any circuits..
