Anybody? Sorry I'm buying a pager today, and want to make sure they program it correctly.

Thank you!

A group tone opens a bunch of radios, and is used when no need to specify individual respondent. Commands sent to a group tone do not wait for acknowledgement.

While Motorola has several options, the most common form of group tone is "Long B," a continuous tone of 6 seconds.

For example, assume your fleet has four members. You program each radio for a different Tone A but the same Tone B, and you program them for "A-B, Long B" format.

Sending any one of the A-B combinations will cause only one member's radio to respond, while sending 6 seconds of Tone B will cause all of the radios to respond. (Note that not all of the MDC command words can be addressed to a group tone, but "Stat Alert" and "Sel Call" can address a group.)
