These also work ok down to the 769MHz public service band so continuous coverage 769 to 960MHz and way better than a Discone. In fact the best that most people can do for 100Mhz through 900MHz is a large Discone and one of these with a diplexer. I just stocked up on four more of these and have no affiliation with the seller. These are less than $10 each and a fraction of their usual $107 cost!

Would love to find a diy for that. Yeah, it's a great price, but sometimes I find more satisfaction in something I crafted.

I still have some of those in my barn from when our county went UHF. I had over a 100 I removed but when I moved many made it to the dumpster. I tried to give them to some of the hams but their "So239 coat hanger antenna was a better solution.... Guess I should have thrown them online and made a few bucks.

The link that you sent states they are $29.95 each. Where did you see $10 each? I'm confused.

The price went up. The downfall of sharing good deals online is sellers jack the price up when there is a sudden surge in interest. It was $10 yesterday, $15 last night, and $30 this morning.

At the time of the original post, they were $10 each. Apparently the seller raised the price once they became aware of the interest.

Last night they were 9.99 with 17.04 shipping making it 27.04. Looks like the seller upped the price

What diplexer do you recommend to add this antenna to a discone? This looks interesting.
I ordered a Comet CF-416W from Amazon last night. Its advertised as 2.3 to 250 Mhz low side and 400 to 1400 Mhz high side. Comet lists them as duplexers for some reason.

Diplexer diplexer, wherefore art thou diplexer? Why, in my garage of course!

Here are a few that will work and all came from eBay used at pretty cheap prices. The Comet CF-413 is rated 840MHz and up but actually goes a little lower. Its low side will go into the 480s. You can probably pop the hood and tweak it to cover a little higher or lower. The Microlab BK-24N is my favorite but hard to find at a good price. I mounted the RF Core Ltd in a NEMA box and will be using it with a Discone and the same 800/900 antenna this thread is about and it will go on the mast right below the antennas. The other diplexers are just random models that cover VHF through at least 508MHz then pick up again above that and continue to 980MHz or higher but all excellent for combining a Discone with the 800/900 antenna in question here.

Damn, I would've been down for one at $10 plus shipping, but not at $46 when for a measly $13 more I can get a brand new 8 dbi collinear that comes with a bracket and a warranty...

Yea, great price at $10, good things sometimes go fast. How big is that 8dBi you mention? It takes a good 5ft of antenna to get that much gain at 800MHz. I see ads for little 12" long whips that have claims of 12dBi, the market is rampant with false advertising.

Yeah, you see a lot of stupid listings trying to reel in those broke Helium mining suckers.

The one I'm referring to is 64 inches... yes, it's taller than the one on fleabay, but when it comes to antennas, we've got nowhere to go but straight up anyway!

Just a few days ago I bought a PCTEL 7dBd/9.14dBi 902-928MHz omni and that is 96" tall. That is an industry standard antenna and the gain specs can be trusted.
