Kind of happy I don't have neighbors into transmitting illegally like that. They all to drunk to even think lol! You can explain radio things to them and they'll be like oh okay, thank you have a nice day.

I can probably tan near this flamethrower.

I've never even pointed an SDR near the FM band up, but this kind of broadband ...crap...would explain why i have such a high noise floor. They share a tower with a NOAA site which is (to my eyes) fundamentally perfect in emissions & coverage. This is on a first gen RTLSDR with an open antenna port in the basement, which is out of line of site of the emissions point (below grade and facing away).

filed a complaint. Got a very nice phonecall from a local agent who contacted who he had to, and that he would go up the line with it. Month later he calls back and says that I am outside of the reporting window, as the most recent modification to their infrastructure / licensing was 6 years ago, and it would have to go thru the media bureau for any enforcement. (If I had called within a calendar year of their buildout, that's different)

He was very intelligent on the matter, and was quite polite.

Good thing I don't like that station, I can tune well clear of it.
