Just took a trip out to Bryson City with my friend and we stumbled across a loaded train waiting to depart. I had my scanner with me and turned the CloseCall on and sat in the parking lot for about a half hour before the train departed. 160.9350 MHz (CH 55) was used and 467.7625 023DPL was used as well. The UHF freq was used when talking to Bryson City HQ about loading and checking off the initial train's departure, and as for the AAR/ARR? freq....I only heard part of a transmition and I'm not sure what it was used for besides the fact that CC caught it so i know GSMR was using it.

Hope this helps!

GSMR uses 160.740 as their main road channel. 160.935 is used for switching as well as 161.460 if there is more then one train switching however they both use the same channel if they are in the same yard unless they are told to use the secondary channel for switching. As for the UHF channel it is primarily used for communication between the car attendants on excurisons and the engine crew in the locomotive. Occasionaly they might use it to talk to the dispatcher but since the dispatcher is in Dillsboro they don't normally use it even though it is a repeater frequency. They have remote transmitter/receivers in several locations along the line between Dillsboro and Andrews to access when traveling.
