Meant to say 'ops' not tops. The auto correct function on my tablet is annoying along with my daily senior moment. Normal operational conversation within the group.

Today heard clear traffic regarding the configuration of the consoles. The console radio id for TG56172 is 1039. The radio id for the console for TG56173 is 1040. The radio id's for the field units testing with both TG's is 1848XXX.

Been hearing mostly encrypted traffic on both TG56172 & TG56173 for the last couple of days.

Since they are encrypted, don't know how much we'll be able to find out.
One of the advantages of the new systems is that, unlike the older Motorola Type II systems, each directly-connected console only has a single radio ID, instead of one ID per talkgroup and operator position.
In other words, a dispatch office with five operator positions and 100 talkgroups per position would consume 500 radio IDs. When departments really become console ID hogs and start "loading" each operator position with the entire radio template of 300 talkgroups, radio IDs get short very, very quickly.
Single ID per operator position is the way to go. . . finally.
These talkgroups still fall within the Water Department/Division of Water talkgroup numbering system, don't they?
If I'm not mistaken, Sewers & Drains are part of the Pollution Control Department not the Water Department . See below.
Group - Dept............. Radio ID's......Talk Group(s)
Sewers & Drains........1847..............TG56168 & TG56169
Unknown (encrypted)..1848..............TG56172, TG56173 & TG56174
Water Department......1849..............TG56181 - TG56189
Different Radio ID's and TG ranges. .
With respect to TG56172 does Water have their own police?
Bud my brother works for the City of Cleveland not in public safety but the utilites dept does have its own police force
Thanks for your response. But...Seriously!
Is your brother sure it's a Utilities Department Police force, not a Security force (aka security guards for facilities and equipment)?
I know this isn't conclusive, when I read your reply I did a search on the Cleveland website. I didn't find any references to a Public Utilities Police Force. The closest I came was the following:
The Division of Radio Communication: responsible for the maintainance of the City's 800 MHz system in a reliable condition suitable for use by all City divisions including Police, Fire and EMS.
That's it, nothing on the Water Department, Pollution Controls or CPP or sites either.
Send me a PM if you have any additional info, I don't want to take up space on this forum with a non radio topic. If it comes to light that there is a Public Utilities Police Force, then we can add it to the list of possible users of the three encrypted TG's that are in question.
Is the city's radio system and Division of Radio Communication bound by Ohio's Sunshine or open records law?
Can a citizen request a copy of, or to view/inspect their template for their radio system layout, talkgroup lists, or even sue them for it (as we know Cleveland rarely provides even the most basic citizen requests)?
