hopkins ARFF fire

Been monitoring all day i would say that these talkgroups maybe in order

HEX-DB04 ARFF OPERATIONS

HEX-DB05 ARFF ALERT CHANNEL NO TRAFFIC YET BUT I BET I'M RIGHT.

HEX-DB06 ARFF CHANNEL

i'm sure their like the old radio line-up i will keep monoroting.
the ARFF operations is used for common every day use unless a plain comes in then they move to the alert channel.
the ARFF 3rd channel was used for just talking like a tac channel in the old radio
Cleveland Fire was just at the airport and ARFF operations was their with them so its easy to say HEX-DB04 is Operatons.

Dave, the following is what I have logged during my monitoring. It appears to match your report. Plus I included some other comms that I monitored Friday.

Regarding ARFF (Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting) Talk Groups:

DB04 which is TG56068, I heard Burke Fire radio checks on this group, Friday afternoon. Radio id's 1844xxx.
DB05 which is TG56069, I heard Fire Tone tests on this TG. Radio id's 1844xxx and also console 1043.
DB06 which is TG56070, I heard Burke Fire radio check on the TG (also). 1844xxx.

From what I've monitored it appears that Fire (ARFF) has it's own radio id range of 1844xxx covering both Hopkins and Burke.

Other traffic monitored:

Burke Ops radio check on TG56080, radio id 1843xxx (regular radio not a console).

Hopkins Field 1 channel (trucks, maintenance and other vehicles on the field) TG56057, radio id's 1842xxx.

Hopkins Building Maintenance, Building 1 Zone 1 TG56050, radio id's 1842xxx
Hopkins Building Maintenance, Building 2 Zone 2 TG56053, radio id's 1842xxx

Hopkins Runway (maintenance/repair, fixed a chuck hole on runway 6 right) TG56062,radio id's 1842xxx.

Hopkins Utilities TG56065, radio id's 1842xxx.

If anyone has updates, corrections or additions, please post them here. If I don't see any updates or corrections from this post I will do a submission to the RR database Monday evening.

TG's submissions to Database

I have submitted the following TG's for Cleveland Hopkins to the database.

TG56050 Building 1 Maintenance
TG56053 Building 2 Maintenance

TG56054 Custodial Operations, Bathrooms, floor cleaning, housekeeping, etc...

TG56057 Field Operations, coordinating activities on the field, trucks, cars, workers.

TG56062 Utilities, general references to marking buried Electric, Gas, Water, etc. feeds in an area under construction.

I have monitored activity on the above TG's since operations on the new Cleveland radio system went live at Hopkins Friday (May 17th) at 2 pm.

Anybody Getting this on there HP's?

Bud great job as always! I had Cleve-P25 locked on all day in full database mode hoping to hear some of these TG's but not a thing. Bud I know you monitor on a PSR-800 but in the past I could pickup new TG's on my HP but it would come in as unknown until the Monday update which again was not ready today. Is anyone with a HP picking up the new TG’s or do I have to wait for the update with luck tommorow?

Tonya do you have the Extreme upgrade on your HP-1..If so you can use trunking discovery mode, and it will log and record audio for all "new" ID's..I started Friday and have logged at least 20 ID"s I didn't have before. If you need help please ask..I'm in the Euclid area..Tony

. I'm ready to take that step but are you hearing the new TG's on the Cleve system? I'm just a little north of you and I hear this system great even without an antenna but not getting any of the new TG’s. I’m going to double check my settings and give it another try tonight. Thanks for the feedback

Yes..I am receiving all the new talkgroups and recording them to figure out who they are..Recently, as other have said Hopkins and Burke operations have joined the system..More water department and city maintenance groups have also joined..I am receiving my signal from the Chardon Road tower.I live in the hillls here and can see the top of tower..I get three bars of signal with no antenna..The Extreme option is worth it to me..Some may disagree..

Thanks for the response I’m going to do the extreme upgrade as soon as I can do my normal database update. But even without the extreme upgrade shouldn’t I not be able to receive the new talk groups on line with them being tagged unknown? I have my HP stuck on Cleve P25-full database-all services activated but nothing new??

I don't have a HP...I use a PSR-500 to find TGs. That said...according to the Wiki entry for the HP -> HomePatrol-1 - The RadioReference Wiki

Non-Extreme does this, if you have "Version 2":
  • ID Search stops on all (unavoided) IDs even if the ID is not in HomePatrol's database
Extreme does this:
  • Trunking Discovery monitors system traffic on a trunked radio system to find unknown IDs and automatically records audio from and logs new channels for later review and identification
They both sound like "ID Search", which is what you want. The Extreme just sounds like it does more channel and audio logging. So I would think you could do ID search, non-Extreme.

Testing on TG56086 to TG56096

Heard several (funny) radio tests at 3:51 pm today. The radio id's for the tests were 1833xxx and the testing was done on several TG's. The lowest TG (numerically) was TG56086 and the highest was TG56096.

What was funny about the tests (from my perspective) was the traffic "Testing on new Talk Groups, do you hear me Bud". Also heard "Bud it's 3:51 and were testing new Talk Groups". Plus the really bad Spanish and German accents were somewhat funny. Then a comment about going encrypted. That was it.

Hopefully I'll hear more testing.

From a reliable source, CMHA PD will go full time on this system. Their signal on their current system is weak on the east side , because they quit leasing tower space and yanked the repeaters . Supposedly the new system will have a LEERN patch also

I was talking with a local radio shop few days ago and i was told bedford, bedford hts, maple hts,ECT is looking to join on the Cleveland system around 6 months from now they don't like the 700 system and Cleveland gave them the best deal so Clevelands new system is going to have a TON of talkgroups in time with all of southwest going on the system now CMHA cool.

Hmm, that's in contrast to what I heard a high level official at Maple Hts speaking on the condition of anonymity as they were not authorized to disclose, that they would go MARCS.

Though I would agree now with CLE online that money talks.

Fire & EMS testing traffic

Have been monitoring radio checks and tone tests on a range of Talk Groups this week. The Tone tests and radio checks have been on TG's (56087 to 56106) radio id's 1832xxx, 1833xxx and consoles 1001, 1003, 1004 and 1005.

At the end of a radio check on TG56106 from a radio id 1832xxx I heard the tester ask a the following question (open mike) "Which EMS channel are we on? Look at the sheet." end of transmission.

Hi Bud; You heard voice or tone testing on all 20 Talkgroups? Thanks, Bill

Yeah, this week I've about worn out the F3 key (used to store wildcard hits) on the 500. Some TG's have 1 or 2 hits, others are double digit and TG56099 is over 100. This is from monitoring just a couple of hours in the morning and a few more in the afternoon.
