GREELEY, Colo. -- A longtime employee of Colorado State Employees Credit Union died Tuesday night after being shot in the parking lot of the bank near the University of Northern Colorado, the Greeley Tribune reported.

The woman, who police would only describe as middle-aged, was shot an unknown number of times by another woman, who was later arrested.

The shooting happened about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday and was announced shortly after a Greeley City Council work session. The city manager told council members that the victim was the wife of a Greeley police officer, and the woman who shot her was a former police dispatcher and the wife of a Weld County Sheriff employee.

According to the newspaper, witnesses in the bank called police to report the shooting about 6:15 p.m. The credit union at 25th Street and 11th Avenue had just closed. The woman was the only person shot and was a supervisor at the bank, according to employees. She died later at North Colorado Medical Center.

Police found the alleged assailant in her car outside her home on 20th Street and booked her into Weld County Jail.

Neither woman has been identified.

There is no word yet as to a motive and police remained on the scene early Wednesday.
