I have these in my Pro-2096 Greeley/Weld County and I'm not hitting them. I checked 853.3125 signal and I'm not getting the percentage it has. What I am getting is MOT: & a bunch of different numbers off that. I tried my Pro-106 and it shows I am hitting 853.3125 at 90-96%. I get them good. I have moved my antenna all ways plus my 2096 and still just reads the same different #'s. Do I have to put something else in my 2096 to hit them?

Are you able to receive 853.3125 and actually hear the data stream when you tune to that frequency on the PRO-2096? Maybe search up and down past that frequency to see if the scanner locks onto 853.3125 just to verify the scanner is actually receiving the signal properly first.

I hit the data stream good but instead of showing me the percentage it shows me MOT: 49468, 53392, 52624 & 08512 ect. I brought my handheld Pro-96 in same room by my 2096 and the 96 is hitting good on the on 853.3125 only difference is the 96 has a rubber duckie and 2096 has a telescoping antenna.

If you go up or down one step from 853.3125 in search mode does the signal sound better or worse in each direction? If it gets better in one direction the scanner could be slightly out of alignment and needing to be tuned. It appears VR4 would require a slight adjustment if this is the case. Here is an old thread regarding this:

Otherwise, I'm not sure what to suggest.

I have but nothing streaming data. I'm thinking I need to download the firmware & DSP? Do you happen to have downloads for 2096/96, I could load up or send me a link? I been looking but can't find it, Thanks.

From your previous message, wondering if the CPU would make a difference 2096 is F1.1 & 96 CPU is F1.3 and I hit them good on the 96.

I found the following note:
"The 'CPU' and 'DSP-Voc' firmware versions are permanently installed at time of manufacture and cannot be updated in the field. The 'DSP-App' version is field upgradeable. The original factory version is indicated by 'F' preceding the version number. The DSP-App version number will be preceded by 'U' after the DSP version is updated via Internet download." Radio Shack PRO-96 Owner's Manual (Page 91 of 120) | ManualsLib

So, I guess the above update is all that is available.

You might try going up or down from 853.3125 to see if you can find the control channel on a different nearby frequency. My guess is the scanner has drifted out of tune. Other than this, I'm not sure what to suggest.

Do you have a mono audio cable with 1/8" mini plugs on both ends? You can try cloning the PRO-96 to the PRO-2096 to give both scanners the same exact programming. The procedure is on page 82 of the PRO-96 manual. I believe the inside adjustment on the PRO-2096 is VR3.
OOPS! I misread your other scanner model. You can't clone from the PRO-106 to the PRO-2096. Do you have programming software for the PRO-2096?

I would try seaching above and below 853.3125 to see if you can locate the control channel. Typically, these scanners are only off by two or three steps at the most. The main goal was to first determine if you are receiving the control channel on 853.3125. If not, then it is likely out of alignment and needs tuned.

I believe the following link has both the version 1.2 and version 1.4 updates with instructions:

I went to that site and it always said 404 errors. I did try to 853.3125 has static on it but it just shows mot and different numbers and I started searching up and below 853.3125 and nothing all quite.

Interesting, I just tried the dropbox link above and it works fine on my end using either Chrome or Microsoft Edge; maybe try a different browser. Or, you can private message me your e-mail and I'll send the 3.5MB zip file to you.

From the sounds of it, your 2096 is not receiving anything in the 850s/860s.

Have you tried the weather channels (162.400-162.550)?

It sounds like the scanner may have some reception problems.
