According to the database Green County sheriff is still analog on VHF. Since the digital information is not in the database the Home Patrol won't know anything about it. I would also suggest asking one of the administrators move this thread to the Wisconsin board.

Hi & welcome to the RR forums:
Perhaps your county migrated to WISCOM here and nobody identified & submitted the updated TGIDs to the database? Just a guess as this seems to be the trend with many other states. Anyway, yes as the posters above me suggested, might want to ask for this thread to be moved to the Wisconsin Discussion Forum, maybe they'd have a better idea there. Perhaps you may want to scan WISCOM then enable ID Search on that HP-2 to see if any unidenfified talkgroups come through to see if anything sounds familiar (assuming encryption isn't a factor of course)

The RR page for Green County mentions the county P25 system uses simulcast but I don’t see the actual P25 system listed. A
Oh, hmm...OK. Yeah definitely weird. No county-specific TRS's listed in the DB

No P25 listed at all aside from the aforementioned state system & it doesn't appear anything THERE is simulcast...

Looks like they are listed as P25 (not trunked).
Ah I see it now, it's a miswording. Simulcast conventional P25 frequencies, not a "system" in the classic definition. Makes sense now

Any scanner that isn't a Unication or an SDS100/200 is going to have poor performance on a simulcast system like Green County just activated.

It’s the simulcast twist that throws me for a loop, not sure how this system would be engineered.

Maybe he means simulcast on more than one frequency?

Or simulcast repeaters with voting receivers?

Conventional, non-trunked, P25 radio systems are quite common across the country, including Wisconsin.

Maybe he means simulcast on more than one frequency?

Or simulcast repeaters with voting receivers?

Transmitting the same information on multiple frequencies concurrently is not, technically speaking, simulcast...that would be simul-select or multicast. The term "simulcast" in the LMR world means multiple sites transmitting the same information on the same frequency at the same time and it can be on a conventional or trunked system.

Simulcast (when done correctly) requires extensive RF modeling of site location, antenna heights, TX ERP, terrain covered, amount of required talk-in/talk-out etc. so that transmitter launch times are synchronized to keep destructive interference to a minimum and/or steered out of a certain area.

It is, after all, FM - F***ing Magic :)

Happy scanning.

Do you see any issues with monitoring these freqs with a Motorola xtl 2500 on conventional, as Motorola decodes simulcast very well.

The Green County system is working fine, it is, as advertised earlier in this thread, the fact that it's a LSM system. My commercial equipment receives it just fine.
