I can when mobiling around about 5 miles east of my QTH.
I can't quite pick it up from my shack.

Why do you ask?

I have no problems, are you having troubles? if so, what type of equipment and do you have the correct freqs in the correct order? There are two connected EDACS systemes in Greene County, to which the loading is separated. And there are actually other complexities built into the system that are not generally known about that could be throwing you off.

nhiester, I'm just curious what I could be missing in Greene County....any suggestions? I'm pretty much listening to Greene Co, Xenia, and Yellow Springs.

(I know this post is older, but I'm hoping someone sees it!) ;)

Check radio reference database. They have a very good list of TG's in the county. Check the Fairborn post for more info on the future of scanning in Greene County. How close to Xenia are you?

I'm actually in Xenia Township....so, pretty close. ;) I have a lot of things from the database in my scanner, but when nhiester said this: "There are two connected EDACS systemes in Greene County, to which the loading is separated. And there are actually other complexities built into the system that are not generally known about that could be throwing you off", I wasn't sure what he meant.

I am submitting updates for greene county TRS Today. My comment was related to the actual setup of the two Trunked Systems within the county. The County wide TRS has 15 frequencies, and is multi-site sumulcast. The Xenia TRS is a single site system that has 8 frequencies. The two systems are connected so that traffic on any talkgroup can go across both systems, but only the dispatch talkgroups are forced. Any operational talkgroups have to have a radio logged into the system for the traffic to pass through. The two systems also share 3 of the frequencies. Currently Xenia PD is the only agency that uses the Xenia system on a full time basis, everyone else uses the County System and the Xenia as a backup. There are a few of us that use Pro-scan to utilize both systems based on signal strength. As far as talkgroups go, I will be sending an update soon, but there are many more users coming onto the system soon.

If you are trying to scan, it is quite possible that you are missing a few of the freqs or they are in the wrong order, This has been changed a few times since new frequencies were added to the system.

I have not been able to scan the system on a Radio shack Pro-2053 at all. That is why I asked what equipment you were using. I dont think that the unit is capable of tracking a merged system like this. I have had no troubles with a BC796D from uniden.

I'm using a Pro-95. I seem to get Xenia PD and Xenia Township fire...but, now that you mention it, I don't recall getting Xenia Fire. Hmmm...I'll have to check this out. Thanks for the info, even though most of it is over my head.

The Freq. sets for the Greene and Xenia TRS systems are now updated, see if that makes a difference. I am working on updating the TGs as well.

Michelle made a good point that I thought might be helpful to the group, there is a channel duplication on the primary system. I suspect this is due to some simulcasting configuration. I have however verified that the list in the database is correct with a 796D. This may alieviate some of the troubles that people have had monitoring the system.

Another side note: It appeares to have 2 acitve control channels. most likely for the link between the primary and xenia system. These show up as Ctrl-01 and ctrl-02 on my 796D.

Mall security

I was told today that the Mall At Fairfield Commons security is considering the possibility of joining the county's trunked system. Not sure on the total accuracy, but I have heard these rumors before. The mall interacts frequently with BPD and it would be nice to have a patch to the the PD for certain situations when a phone call might not be possible. Just rumors until I can better verify it.
