Got this from the database
460.28750
464 DPL
Greenville Co. SD SWAT.Helo
FM

I programmed that in a few weeks back and have yet to hear any activity.

It's possible I may have it programmed wrong. Still learning this scanner.
Using the pro 2026. aD - CT
CT: C-search

See anything obvious mistakes maybe?

I once again call on you experts! :)

SWAT rarely gets called out. This may also be a helicoptor freq, which is just as rare I suppose. I've never heard anything on my county's SWAT freq. If you've got a DPL tone for it, just leave it programmed and if you need it you'll have it. You could find yourself right next to them someday -- you never know. A hostage situation at a bank took place only a few hundred yards from where I was working a few months ago.

Yikes.

SWAT rarely gets called out, but the helo does relatively frequently. The helo used to broadcast on one of the 4 current GCSO channels.

The county Helo did use this at one time. The county still uses this freq for escorts. Simpsonville PD also uses it for escorts. Its part of the 4 Ch SLED Co-Op UHF Group. More detail on this in the 2006 Upstate Scanner Frequency Directory.

Eh, how much is the book, where is it, and does it have the freq for Air 1?

The HELO was up right around the time you posted this, flying in northern greenville near hwy 11 and 414. An LEO that was with me at work said that they now talk on GCSO Ch 1, not on 4 and that 4 was used for mutual aid now. Give that channel a shot next time.....

Alex, I've been monitoring chan 1 (460.1250) for a long time, and unless I'm mistaken I haven't heard the Helo on any of the four GCSO channels in over a year or so.

I used to hear it used with the call sign of Air 1, with the distinctive helo sound in the background.

I still see it in the air every other week or so.

I can't say I've ever heard it either, but I was always listening to CH4 on my XTS3000, and didnt have it on scan because of all the traffic on 2 and 3. The LEO (who has more radios than I) gave me that info, so I figured it was better info than I had. I'll check with him again. Also, I'll be training with the SO late next week so maybe I can get the info out of one of the guys... It all depends if they bring the helo to training.... Either way, I'll try to get some more concrete info.

Awesome. Thanks a lot Alex!

Dolidis, You from the G'ville area? Also, have you listened in on the 800 band at all (ie greenville city FD/PD, or greer)?

Yeah, from Greenville. I've got HP, GPD/FD and Greer programmed in. Haven't got any traffic from Greer's talkgroup though, probably due to range. Too bad, my cousin is a Deputy in Greer. Would be nice to hear him and heckle him about it. :)

I was under the impression that because they were on the 800 they could talk anywhere in the county/state as long as they were in range of a cell. Is that not the case? Or did Greer cut costs and pay for single site use? I work in Greer, so once my new XTS arrives this week I'll also get some info on activity on their talkgroup....

I'm not sure. I only found one talkgroup and one conventional frequency for Greer. Haven't heard from either. However, I'm still learning this new scanner, so it could be an error on my end somewhere.

Greer still uses 460.400/127.3 most of the time. It's active right now, listening from Spartanburg.

Recently I heard activity on 51872 that I am nearly certain was Greer PD. Initially I thought they had made the complete switch over to Palm800 because calls were being dispatched on that TG. Out of nowhere, the dispatcher told everyone to go back to normal operations. After that I didn't hear a peep on the TG.

I know for a fact that most of the officers at Greer are still using UHF radios, I see them everyday. Next time I'm in the station I'll ask for the low-down on when they are switching completely over to 800. The FD doesn't have any 800's and no one has expressed that they were getting them any time soon either. That doesn't make too much sense to me since they share the same dispatch office and the same buildings.... But then again, why does Greer do some of the things they do......

Must be a range issue for me, haven't picked up anything at all. Southern Gvlle.

I did hear some interesting traffic on the GCSO 800 narc channel last night. 52848

Greer could be simulcast thru Simpsonville's Pal800 twr #31 or Stone Station #36 in addition to Pri tower, Paris Mtn #35. Greer 800 is a late Friday nite thing. I dont have time to monitor them all.

Unfortionatly no updates (yet). Training was cancelled due to the weather that Thursday, however, I will still make an effort to get the information. My sources are very busy with personel changes in the GCSO and I'm just waiting for things to calm down a bit.
