I heard GVL EMS tell a responding unit to move to Central 1/channel 6. The channel listing seems to be odd since they used to refer to 462.950 as channel 9. According to the MED channel list, that is channel 9. The UHF Tac 1 is actually Med 10. So how does Central 1 talk group become channel 6. Anyone have any ideas?

Ch. 1 - 155.175
Ch. 2 - 155.340
Ch. 3 - 155.280
Ch. 4 - Pal 800 Dispatch
Ch. 5 - Pal 800 - Tac 1
Ch. 6 - Central 1
Ch. 7 - Central 2
Ch. 8 - VHF 155.235
Ch. 9 - Med 9
Ch. 10 - UHF Tac 1

I would not expect that any conventional channels are included in their channel line-up. It's possible, but I think unlikely, that all EMS Units have dual-band VHF/800MHz subscribers. Ambulances might still have UHF radios installed in them, but I haven't heard any reports of any UHF channels, including Med channels, still in use in Greenville. Maybe they do still use Med 3 or Med 6 for ER communications?

I'm guessing it's more like:

1 - P800 Dispatch
2 - P800 Tac
3 - P800 Unknown
4 - P800 Unknown
5 - P800 Unknown
6 - P800 Central 1
7 - P800 Central 2
8 - P800 Unknown

Given that there are talkgroups labelled "Central" implies to me that there may be other "regional" talkgroups for other areas of the county - North or South, East or West, Upper or Lower, something like that, that may be in the other channel positions. Maybe also interop talkgroups for other agencies like Fire or Sheriff, or Air-Ground, etc.

All Fire Departments are making the move to 800's along with EMS and Sheriff's office. There is a North 1, North 2, Central 1, Central 2, South 1, and South 2. This allows everyone involved in a incident to take their traffic off of dispatch. So A house fire in Donaldson Center may be moved by dispatch to South 1 to have all responding agencies on the same channel.

Thanks for this info. If you happen to know the talkgroup values for North 1&2, or South 1&2, that would be helpful.

But that would mean that a possible channel layout/zone for GCEMS might be something like
1 - P800 Dispatch
2 - P800 Tac
3 - P800 Unknown
4 - P800 North 1
5 - P800 North 2
6 - P800 Central 1
7 - P800 Central 2
8 - P800 South 1
9 - P800 South 2

I don't have the talkgroup values for them. They are slowly getting phased in. More departments are joining each week.

Lot's of tone test and alarm test from the north end stations yesterday and today. Looks like the switch over is coming fast.
