Greenville PD pulls the plug

Monday Nov 22nd Greenville Police pulled the plug on the Palmetto 800 Digital trunking system. Too much trouble trying to use WT's in the cars. Also several dead spots thruout the city. Regular mobiles with gain antennas should work just fine - BUT - thats not what they had. Gee what a deal. TV-4,7,21,Greenville News,Security Co's,City towing contractors all bought about 25 digital scanners in the past three [3] weeks.

Is this still true? Im hearing differing stories...espacially since the City FD just put their system in service on 3/2/05. Thanks for any info!

First of all that is an old post from last year and a second post telling that they turned the system back on is missing. The Grv Fire just turned on 4 new channels DIGITAL and still simulcast Fire Alert on UHF.
