• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

The Greenwood Sheriffs 453.100 frequency really booms into the Easley/Greenville area during overcast days. I looked up the transmitter sites and they appear to be on a tower near the Greenwood city area. Have they moved them higher and not changed the license?

Sorta off topic, but I do hear them in Lincoln County Nc when the band opens up. We use 453.100 as the primary Sherrifs freq.

It might be hard to tell which antenna at the Parkland site is the county's. There are two or three towers there, with numerous equipment, including the Palmetto 800 TRS. Also cellular, Nextel and PCS ... although they are easier to I-D.

There's also a cable tv tower at the site, which is just off Hwy 221 / 72 coming northbound out of Greenwood. I went by there a couple of years ago, sightseeing with my father-in-law, who lives in Greenwood.

The other site is downtown in Greenwood.
