Sig-Int's recent comment about how some folks try to use the mono-stereo adapter on this cable - and shouldn't - got me to thinking that this is the kind of detail that belongs in our wiki.

More specifically these 2 articles...

Object Oriented Scanner Software - The RadioReference Wiki

PSR-300/400 Software and USB Support - The RadioReference Wiki

Now is there a time when you need the adapter? For example, does the PSR-163/164 need it, but not the PRO-97 or 2055? How about the object oriented scanners? Or is there something in the software support that requires it (for example does Win500 need it, but ARC500 doesn't)? I know I would be confused by this - and I can't be alone in feeling that way.

Even if it's not required at all for all of the new RS/GRE scanners, as well as the PRO-97/2055, that too is a potentially important detail.

Especially in light of the Radio Shack instructions stating that "most newer scanners" require the adaptor, this cost me 3 hours of grief.
