If you monitor near the southern part of the state you will be getting other stations on this freq from Long Island Suffolk county.

I can tell you first hand that the freq's primarily used are:
33.800 pl179.9 - tones
33.900 pl179.9 - mva's & fires
33.880 pl179.9 - EMS (mostly Griswold Ambulance)
460.600 pl192.8 - UHF repeater (medicals, sometimes mva's & fire alarms)

33.74 is not used often. It is basically a backup frequency if 33.90 is busy with multiple calls. It is also used a lot for service calls (tree down, water emergencies ect.) Other times I've heard it being used is with major fires, they'll use it as a staging frequency. Also as far Griswold ambulance goes, they get dispatched on 33.80 and then directed to 33.88 or 33.90 or 460.000, depending on the type of call.

Ova here
I picked up 33.74 mhz today for a dwelling fire, Was it Griswald or Jewitt City ?

Griswold (Station 55) and Jewett City aka A. A. Young Jr. Hose & Ladder CO. (Station 56) will respond together for working fires in the entire town. Usually they operate on the same frequency and are dispatched by QV as stated previously.

Here's the links to the departments:
Town of Griswold Connecticut - Public Safety
A.A. Young Jr. Hose & Ladder Co.

Also a little tid-bit of information for those who don't know, Jewett City is an incorporated municipality within the town of Griswold. They have their own government per-say that provides extra municipal privileges that the town government does not.
