Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Good morning all.

Just curious to know if there is a way to "Group" TGID's for programming?

For instance...

Is there a way to create "ACME PD" and contain "ACME1, ACME2, ACME3, and ACME4" in that group?

That way, it would scan all the TGID's in the group that are programmed to that knob position?

I would presume there has to be.

Each knob position for Trunking TG-Scan or Trunking TG-Monitor has its own Priority and Non-Priority Talk Group Lists. If you're asking if there's a way to create a grouping of talkgroups that can be reused in multiple knob positions, there is not (AFAIK).

Yes you can. First, go to D-5 and enter each TGID with the alias you want:

Then go to D-6 and add your zones. Each zone is basically a set of up to 8 knob positions:

The double-click on a knob position and scroll to the bottom. From all your TGs, add the ones you want to the right. I recommend using the Non-Priority Talk Group List to avoid having a voice call interrupted if another talk group higher on your list suddenly gets keyed up:

Thank you sir!

So in this instance, this would allow me to combine say RWC and TOPAZ and AZWINS? Completely different "sites."

I hope I am explaining this right.

No, one system per knob position. And will only lock on to one site at a time until signal degrades then will look for another (programmed) site with strong enough decode.

TO add to what @jtwalker is saying, IF you know you want to monitor a specific Site, you would need to set up the System with ONLY the specific site info you want to monitor. Then set up your knob position with that system (which has the site you want) and then add the talk groups you want to monitor.
I am in an area where several cities share a common system, but each city is assigned their own site IDs. 1-1, 1-2, 1-3 and so on. But my device is in coverage of all 3, however IF i wanted to hear the agency on 1-2 and the device locked on to 1-1 that wont work. So i set up each system with its own site. This way when i turn the knob position i know in advance what site it will lock onto and associate the correct talk groups for that particular site.
