Just got Win500 and am trying it out. Figured I program the 4 counties around Atlanta and Atlanta itself. Just looked through the database and tried out all the various CCs given there for Gwinnett P25, etc. Nothing live on any of them. Seem to remember that someone mentioned not monitorable? Right/Wrong?

Thanks

Rick, you got to be kidding:lol: I've been monitoring Gwinnett Fire all day on my 106. There's four 850Mhz frequencies that the system uses. Are you positive that it's not the old 860Mhz system? In fact, FD has been really busy in my surrounding area in the last hour (6PM EDST).

Just a thought, did you create a scan list for the TG's? I was reconfiguring my 197, and put the TG's for two separate systems in the same scan list. Just wondering.

I think too far is probably why. I finally got the Atlanta p25 system setup with a wild card. I get about 70% readability and an analyze on the Tsys shows between 62% and 80% quality. It seems to be decoding the CC well but the voice channels may or may not come through readable. Guess I may need an outside (or at least) higher base station antenna.

RickS31....I live in a weak signal area of Gwinnett. I'm curious, what's a "wild card", aside from card playing?

Basically, once you have the Tsys setup with the proper Control Channels and such and then go to add Talk Group IDs, you have a choice to put in specific groups (per RadioReference db) or just put a a Wildcard in. It's an option. This allows you to receive all talkgroups of that system.

Good to see what's out there and what you like to listen to on that system.

Look at the TGRP section of the 106 manual to see more on it.

You're welcome. Lots of more knowledgeable folks than me on here so always feel free to ask your questions. They are great!

I use TGRP wildcards when I get the TSYS setup just to get an idea what the various TGs are and to get an idea what I'd like to hard code into the scanner scanlist for that system. Of, course, any scanlist can be changed to anything you want down the pike. Recommend getting the programming software and the cable as this really shows how this stuff all sets up. Complex scanner but actually a dream to setup and use once you understand it. Best I've ever owned but then I haven't owned as many as a lot of folks on this site.

Read everything you can get your hands on and try everything that interests you. Can't hurt a thing if you follow the book or RR forum recommendations.

Traveling to Gwinnett Center this week and the RRDB indicates that the "old" system is still alive and active...

Gwinnett County Public Safety Trunking System, Lawrenceville, Georgia - Scanner Frequencies

True? Not? Partial? Any help?

Just a couple of words: nope, nada, zip, zilch, slim and none, and slim left:D The only thing for public safety in Gwinnett is the newer P-25. It only has FD on it. However, you can monitor Forsyth, De Kalb, Hall FD, Fulton, some Cobb, some Atlanta. Use the Fulton county CC's for Cobb. Set Multisite mode to off for all systems. Don't have a clue why the system is still up and running. Gwinnett went off of it in Oct, 2008. Thank heavens I had my 96. Nov, 2008 got my 106. There are frequencies for the Gwinnett Center here on RR. Maybe we could meet up:)

Thanks, I'll do some programming tonight... I found the Gwinnett Center freq's too.

You're going to kill those new HP-1 owners by not putting the move into the RRDB :) Any reason that system is still listed here? Is it still used by the public works or someone?

No clue why it's still in there:confused: Water is on the new system, all PD's, and SO. The only 'old' system in the database that is currently operating in the county is school system's LTR. Used exclusively by the bus dispatchers and school maintenance. I always thought that they kept it up and running in case the P-25 system failed. I'm sure there are others who know why.
