Atlanta Journal Constitution (subscription) - GA,USA
... At least two dozen police cars converged on the scene, closing one lane of westbound Holcomb Bridge Road just as rush-hour traffic was easing. ...

Actually, virtually all airports have a code. They just may not be a highly-customized, three letter code that implies the name or city of the airport. The smaller ones have a three-digit combination alpha-numeric code. Georgia has 109 airports with codes. See http://www.airnav.com/airports/us/GA

For example, Cook County Airport in Adel is "15J".

Airports are a little like car tags: Virtually all cars have a tag, but not all have customized/vanity tags that convey a message.

Interesting

Also note that site says

The above list contains only public use facilities and may be incomplete.
There are many other private and military use facilities in Georgia not listed above.

IMHO there still isn't a compelling reason to add the airport tag to that data since many of those I listed are private.

It can be done even by others since it is a WIKI page. Just copy and paste the data into EXCEL, add a couple of more columns, paste in the matching airport tags, copy and paste the whole thing into WORD, convert the table back to text using | as the seperator, do a search replace on the linefeeds to add a liknefeed |- plus another linefeed then copy and paste it all back into WIKI.

While you are at it please change the distance field to 3 miles (27 square miles) as I think that is more realistic for the radius around an airfield for a portable scanner.

Dan that 396 or 996 looks more interestng every day. Isn't that what you have?

Mike hit one out of the ball park with that link to a PDF document from GA.

EXCELLENT!

IMHO even if you only have a passing interest in scanning aviation I recommend that you download that file and take it with you on your laptop.

Right click on the following link and select SAVE AS...
